IMPG has intensive operational processes to manage and validate both internal and external market data, allowing analysts to act on those events in a timely and informed manner. Accuracy and timing are two keys to the success of daily data management and index.
The Data Associate is responsible for the acquisition, management and quality of a variety of financial related data items used for the production and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones-branded indices.
The successful candidate will be expected to set the standard in carrying out tasks associated with the management of fundamental data used for the production and maintenance of indices, setting an example for more junior analysts to follow.
Additionally, the Data Associate is responsible for a wide range of data points across global markets and may be required to make presentations to Index Committees on matters impacting the maintenance and particularly the rebalancing of S&P DJI global indices, making in-depth knowledge of their product line essential.

The Data Associate role is a part of the GDM team, which is central to SPDJI's overall vision and mission to onboard and manage all kinds of data requirements for the development and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones branded indices. The group works closely with other departmental groups (Index Managers, Market Managers, Index Calculation & Distribution, Data Operations and Solutions) and across the firm (Technology, Product Management, Research & Development, etc) to implement the IMPG agenda and benefit from the substantial resources and expertise available within the SPDJI organization.
As a Data Associate, you will work collaboratively with a wide range of data points, indices and other products across global markets. You must be able to analyze and implement complex data processes and calculation methodology and solve non-routine problems on an on-going basis.
Responsibilities:
The Data Associate will be a process/systems expert w.r.t. data management operations more broadly and a content/SME w.r.t. Financials/ESG data specifically, as also an escalation point for junior team members and support for the team leader. In addition, the Data Associate will be required to:
• Work with a global team of researchers, index managers and IT specialists, and financial data vendors to support financial research of companies ;
• Demonstrate organizational skills by ensuring that processes for the capture, quality screen and presentation of all underlying data used for calculation and maintenance of S&P and Dow Jones branded indices, are completed in time for their delivery to end clients or for use in the further calculation or rebalancing of indices;
• Develop a detailed understanding of the way each data set is used in the production and maintenance of S&P and Dow Jones branded Indices, ensuring the Senior Data Research Analyst is able to identify and resolve issues and ensure the data is fit for purpose;
• Take responsibility for data management of high-profile indices, acting as an industry expert/subject matter expert for all data management aspects and displaying in-depth knowledge of our product lines;
• Liaise with index committees and make presentations of original, non-routine nature to committee in support of the data items for which the Senior Data Research Analyst is responsible.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to enquiries from internal groups and external clients, through our client services team;
• Manage and maintain key relationships with other groups within the department and across other departments, particularly Product Management, Client Coverage, Index Services and IT Support;
• Liaise with data vendors (S&P Global Market Intelligence in particular) to understand data structure and definitions, incorporating this knowledge into our data management processes;
• Lead innovation/efficiency initiatives through continuous process improvements, process re-engineering, automation to bring in economies of scale and improve productivity;
• Producing documentation and specifications for the logic used in rules and intermediate storage solutions, working with technology teams to ensure all requirements are clear and ready to be migrated to permanent IT solutions, where appropriate, collaborate with business analysts (DOS) on user testing, documenting results as appropriate What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• A demonstrable understanding of global financial markets
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
• Good time management skills. Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision.
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner
• Proficient in Excel, Power Point and other MS Office applications. Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in business, finance or any other equivalent discipline would be preferred, and / or progression in a financial qualification (e.g. CFA). Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience handling financial data, including but not limited to Company Fundamentals/ESG,
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL/Python/Power Automate is a pre-requisite as work would involve doing data transformations/process automation/data analysis and smart QA till IT solutions come by
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrate ownership
• Good communication skills
• Experience dealing with customers in a time-sensitive demanding environment where interpretation of data has both objective and subjective components requiring persuasion and influencing skills.

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus.
